John came with his wife Debbie to serve Christ together in Surbiton in September 2021, after enjoying life and ministry in London, Manchester, NE Brazil and Chesham. He has two adult sons who allow him to slip stream on long cycle rides, and he enjoys walking, eating & drinking with Debbie and anyone else who will join them.
Charles Kimbangi
associate minister
Charles joined the team at Christ Church in 2023 after 9 years of serving as a Pastor in South East London. Charles loves listening to podcasts, reading and anything to do with sport, fitness and competition; including running, cycling and football. He is married to Amy and they have two children. Charles oversees Outreach and Evangelism at Christ Church.
Emmanuel baikie
Curate
Emmanuel was in the middle of discernment for non-stipendiary vocation when he joined the church in 2014. He studied for ordained ministry at St. Augustine’s College of Theology and became curate in the summer of 2019. He is a GP in a role that combines primary care in a large inner city practice and in Wandsworth prison. He is married with four grown up children. He supports Arsenal FC and likes keeping fit.
Steve WestoN
Associate Minister
for Children & Youth
Steve moved to Christ Church in 2014 with his wife Sara, following his internship in Hertford and study at Cliff College, Derbyshire. They live in Surbiton with their two boys and enjoy exploring local parks together. Steve loves sport, and follows Stevenage FC (Football), Nebraska Cornhuskers (American Football) and Surrey (Cricket). Steve heads up our ministry to children and young people here at Christ Church.
Emma purkesS
Worship Pastor
Emma joined the team in November 2019, after worship ministry in Chiswick and Bath. She has recently finished her masters in theology at St Mellitus. She and her husband Simon live locally and enjoy long walks, cycling and as many board games as possible.
Paola LevericK
CHURCH Administrator
Paola moved to Surbiton in 2017. Her educational background is in technology. She has consciously focused her skills working in various roles including events, office management and marketing. One of her best experiences has been working at HTB. She loves meeting new people, getting to know them and running as well as short podcasts.
Sara Weston
Financial Administrator
Sara is married to Steve (our Associate Minister for Children and Youth), and they have two boys, Jacob and Josiah. When Sara isn't chasing her boys, you might find her baking, running, balancing the books or collecting the LEGO blocks strewn about her house.
KATE KIM
CHILDREN’S & YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER
Kate has been a member of our church family since 2018. She is married to Seyun and they have three children, Yosei, Edam and Siyu. She loves reading, climbing, and teaching the bible, as well as running korean lessons.
yasmin Humphreys
YOUTH & CHILDREN’S INTERN
Yasmin joined the church in September 2022, soon after becoming a christian. She was baptised in January 2023 and joined our team as Intern in September 2023. She loves football, sharing her faith with others, and has a passion for world mission and supporting the persecuted church.
